There are really many examples from the online business when the branded, famous companies (now talking about hosts mostly) have not enough quality corresponding their fame.

This makes me suppose that marketing is often more important than even the service itself. Surely, investing funds into ads and promotion brings more visits to the site, creating better client potential for the certain company, but the lack of quality drives the clients back, right after the very first month of being served.

However, it often seems the companies who have chosen to be well-known by the ads and other types of attraction, are not going improve their quality, having enough big revenues from the new sign-ups every month. And despite of senselessness felt about such approach, they are still the leaders of search, or popularity rankings.

So, I think, proper marketing strategy means more for money making, than the quality itself…
